In Loving Memory Of
Albina Natannah
Albina Natannah, resident of Bushe River, AB, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie, AB, at the tender age of 72 years.
Albina was born December 22, 1948, in Hay Lakes, AB to Hubert “Charlie” and Elise Natane (nee Kotaye). She was born into a loving family which included many siblings.
In 1977, Albina and her growing family moved to Grande Prairie, to further her education and provide a faithful life for herself and her children. Albina and her family stayed in Grande Prairie for 23 years gaining many friends along the way and memories.
Albina had 4 children whom she loved and cared very much for, Verna, Jamie (Carol), Robby and Kevin. When her mother was very sick, Albina and her family moved to Bushe River to be closer to the rest of family and have resided there for the past 21 years.
In Albina’s younger years, she loved the outdoors and hunting with her father and brothers, also wagon trips with her sisters. She spoke about target practicing, and proud of being a really good shot. She did well in school and completed up to grade 9, later celebrating her High School Equivalency diploma. Her passion was helping others, so she determinedly pursued an education in Social Work.
When she started working, she worked at the local Band Office to save up her money. After she had saved up enough, she went to Manning, AB and bought her first car and practiced driving in her mom and dad’s yard. Eventually, she was able to get her drivers license and she was very proud of herself for her accomplishments.
Later on, she met Phillip Dahdona and shortly after, moved to Grande Prairie to find new opportunities for herself and her children. She led her kids to be successful in life pushing them for higher education and raised her grandchild through High School as well. Her grandson will soon be graduating and going to university. Albina was always proud of her boys; she did a fine job raising them, providing them with what little she was graced with.
If Albina wasn’t outside gardening or feeding/watching the birds, she’d be working away on her sewing projects. She loved creating moose hair tuftings and making moccasins which she was successful with and sold items all over the world. Many hours through the years she was busy doing her crafts. She was an early riser and enjoyed her coffees in the mornings, observing the geese and ducks that would be in the neighbouring farmers’ field, or going for short drives to listen to American Robins “pray” as her mother would say.
Albina loved it when her boys went hunting. If the weather cooperated, she’d come visiting at the hunting camp to cookout. The fall was one of Albina’s favourite seasons, she’d get to make dry meat and stock up her fridge with fresh moose meat for the long winter months.
Albina will be sadly missed by her children: Verna Natannah, Jamie (Carol) Natannah, Rob Natannah, and Kevin Natannah; grandchildren: Cameron Natannah, Kroy Pastion, Kaine Pastion, Kingston Natannah, Izabella Natannah, Tyrese Didzena, Ariya Natannah, Kaydom Beaulieu, Kaiton Natannah, Brooklyn Natannah, Pierce Gladue, and Makenna Natannah; great-grandchildren: Jude Ahnassay, Kashlyn Natannah, Ryker Natannah, Kyla Natannah, Callum Natannah, Kaizyn Natannah, and Emmet Pastion; brother August Natannah; sisters: Sophie Ahnassay, Bessie Martel, Therese Goldman, Madeline Natannah, Josephine Natannah; as well as the extended children and grandchildren she collected over her life path.
She was predeceased by her parents Hubert and Elise Natannah; beloved sisters; brothers: Pierre Natannah, Gabriel Natannah, Rene Natannah, Sam Natannah; as well as many aunts, uncles and good friends.
