Alastair Glendinning Moran Monday February 1st 2021

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear father, Alastair Glendinning Moran. He died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 66.
Alastair was born in Inchinnin, Scotland before travelling to Canada with his sister Patricia and parents Walter Moran and Georgina Moran (née McCulloch). He lived throughout Ontario and briefly in the UK but spent the last 30 years of his life in Brampton. He is survived by his 3 children, Tracy Moran, Paige Lisk(nee Moran) (Jared) and Rebecca Moran and their mother Beth Moran; his grandchildren Rosie Lisk and Declan Lisk; as well as his sister Patricia George (née Moran) (Keith) and nephews Adam George (Quinn), Jeremy George (Danielle) and Evan George (Angela).
Alastair was an extremely hardworking, intelligent and thoughtful man. He had a successful career working as a customs and trade compliance professional and was well respected by his colleagues. He was able to retire at the end of 2014 and spent the last 6 years living a quiet simple life spent doting on his grandchildren, continuing to provide expert fatherly advice and help to his children and devoting time to his favourite hobbies- including hiking, reading, photography, music and most recently researching his family’s ancestry and compiling a comprehensive family history.
He was not a man who let a great deal of people into his inner circle. He was private and independent. But those of us who were lucky enough to be part of it knew the incredible person he was. Funny and sharp-witted, loyal and extremely generous. He would do anything to help those he loved. He could be relied on by his family and friends for anything. He told great stories, particularly about his adventures travelling through Africa in his early twenties.
He found a way to make his relationships with each of his children special. He was an extraordinary father and father-in-law. He loved them fiercely and steadfastly. He would drop everything if any of them were ever in need. He would go above and beyond to be there no matter how small or big the situation was. Unsurprisingly, he was just as amazing at being a grandfather. Rosie and Declan adored their Papa as much as he adored them. He was so grateful to be able to be a part of their lives.
In the weeks prior to his death, Alastair suffered a heart attack, which he was hospitalized for and subsequently released. His death will never feel right. He was far too young and had too much life to live. However it is a small comfort that due to this event he had the chance to reconnect with those he was closest to in his final days. He was speaking with his loved ones every day, and knew how much he meant to all of us.
Respecting the current situation and pandemic restrictions, there will be a private service for family and close friends at Ward Funeral Home on Thursday February 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
We thank you for your understanding and encourage you to provide your condolences to us through his memorial page.
Our Family has also provided the opportunity to view the funeral service from the comfort of your home through a livestream link. This link will become available at the time of the service in the « Photos and Videos » section.
Alastair will then be cremated and we plan on holding an interment ceremony in the future when his friends and family can gather safely.
We request that you share any memories or stories you have of Alastair here. If you would like to send any expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers we ask that you send a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, which can be done below on this page.
