Obituary
Agnes Trout passed away on July 3, 2021, at the age of 88 years.
Agnes was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she attended St. Augustine School. After travelling to and residing in Australia she returned to Canada in 1959 and resided in Regina. While there she worked at the Grey Nuns Hospital.
She later moved to Calgary in 1970. There she met her husband George, and they were married in 1971. Setting up house together they raised their children Robert and Belinda and by all accounts she was a wonderful mother. Later they joined the Royal Canadian Legion where they had many friends and good times through the years. For many years they operated the family business Allied Woodcraft until George retired.
Agnes was a bundle of energy. She was rambunctious and a handful at times but was always the life of the party, bringing laughter and fun to every situation. On one of her many junkets to Vegas she brought laughter to the crowd when she decided to spice up the Chippendale Boys show, (sorry guys your show will never be the same again). The rest of that story will, as they say: “…stay in Vegas.”
Agnes though not quite a fashionista was always stylish. She liked expensive clothes and shoes and always looked her best. That included wearing high heels when camping and designer slippers when shoveling the walks.
Underneath that fashion veneer however was a deeply caring and compassionate person. If you liked something she owned she would insist you, have it. On one occasion an admirer expressed how lovely her shoes were, Agnes took them off, gave them to her and later went home in her stocking feet. And anyone confined to a hospital bed or seniors’ home would get regular visits from her with gifts and food. When she got older and could not drive across town she would jump in a cab or take a bus to get there. Her devotion to the welfare of others never waned.
Agnes is survived by her daughter Belinda Reay (David); and her sisters Kathy Fleury and Margaret Marchtaler (Kurt).
She is predeceased by her parents Dominic and Agnes Schaffer; her husband George Trout (2020); her brothers John Shaffer (2020) and Tony Schaffer (2013); and her stepson Robert Trout.
Godspeed Agnes in your journey to be with George again. We will all miss you.
