Obituary
Passed away unexpectedly at her residence on Tuesday September 14, 2021 at the age of 64 years, Agnes Anne Rigaux, of Glenboro, MB.
Agnes leaves to mourn her passing her brothers John of Baldur, MB and Norbert of Brandon, MB, sisters Joyce Rigaux (John Rayment) of Powell River, BC, Lisa (Alan) DeCeuleneer of Swan Lake, MB as well as numerous extended relatives & friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Hubert & Evelyn Rigaux, brothers George & Robert and by sister-in-law Sandra Rigaux.
From the moment Agnes entered our family, we were smitten with her presence. She was unique, fun loving, and accepted everyone as they are. No judging. She was generous, fiercely independent, courageous, and strong. She was an individual who lived her world as she saw it. She weathered difficult times in her life, but never complained.
Agnes grew up on the family farm in the Bru District of Cypress River and took a keen interest in farming activities and was attracted to the farm animals, especially horses. Her first horse, Pinto, was a Shetland pony. Later horses in her life were much larger.
She attended Cypress River school, and completed her schooling at the Glenboro Collegiate.
Along the way Agnes advanced from horses to motorcycling. Later, her prized possession of course was her Dodge Charger car, which was polished on a regular basis.
Agnes worked long and devoted hours in the hospitality sector, in such locations as Cypress River, Holland, Glenboro, and Swan Lake. For a time, she was also employed as a cashier by the Swan Lake First Nation. After relocating to Glenboro, she purchased and maintained her own residence. Her backyard, to say the least, was natural, and you dare not even suggest any trimming of the vegetation. Agnes was very determined to live independently and showed that she was very capable. She was proud of her house, and welcomed all to visit.
In Glenboro, Agnes was employed in Home Care and Custodial duties at the Glenboro Hospital, Glenboro Personal Care Home, and the Glenboro Collegiate. She enjoyed reading on her deck surrounded by her dogs, Odie and Luke, and cat, Scarlette. If you visited Agnes you were obliged to watch an old movie, along with the usual refreshments. Her collections of movies more than filled one room.
Agnes also enjoyed Belgium Bowling with “Pop” and in true Rigaux fashion, loosing was not an option.
She thoroughly enjoyed Halloween and giving out treats to the kids. On Halloween night Agnes was transformed into Elvira complete with makeup and coloring, which actually continued throughout the year.
Agnes was a shining star to all who knew her and her passing has left a large void in our hearts.
Rest easy Agnes. You will be “Dancing with the Angels.”
A Private Family Graveside will be held on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the St. Alphonse Cemetery.
Friends are welcome to a Come & Go gathering at the Baldur Memorial Hall on Wednesday October 6, 2021 from noon to 2:00 pm.
Memorial donations can be made in Agnes’ memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st St., Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8 or to a charity of choice.
