Obituary
Abe Loewen of MacGregor, formerly of Austin, was called home by the Lord on November 1, 2021. In the spring 2002 he had a major stroke which left him partly paralyzed and without speech. After a few months in the hospital and rehab he was admitted to the MacGregor Personal Care Home where he has been a resident for the past 19 years.
Abe was predeceased by his parents Frank & Sara Loewen; 6 brothers, John (Eleanor), Frank (Janet), Bill (Violet), Henry, Eddie and Tony (Hellen).
He is survived by sister in law Janet, nieces and nephews . Abe will be remembered by his Austin neighbors for mowing their lawns and blowing their snow. He was a regular at the coffee shop, he had many friends he liked to visit. Abe had a mischievous smile and way about him and a very firm and long handshake. He loved children and liked it when the grade 2’s came to read at the care home.
Abe attended the Austin Evangelical Fellowship when he still lived in Austin. He came to recognize his spiritual need after he became a resident at the care home and made a personal commitment to Jesus. He always enjoyed the church services our local churches provided and the various music groups that came to provide entertainment and worship times.
We, his caregivers wish to thank the care home staff for the love and wonderful care he received and all the meals he enjoyed over these years. He also enjoyed all the activities provided by staff and volunteers. These 19 years were good and happy years in Abe’s life. Thanks also to the doctors who tended to his medical needs. And thanks to Clarke’s Funeral Home for planning and doing the final arrangements.
Vaccine status cards will be necessary to attend the Viewing & Funeral Service.
For God so loved the world, that he gave
His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth
In him shoul not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16
