Obituary
I have been a very fortunate guy all of my life. My parents, Joyce & Clarence Norgard, gave me a supportive and loving upbringing, along with 5 brothers.
I was born in Lethbridge on June 13, 1954. My parents moved our family to Fort Macleod in 1955, where I spent my childhood and most of my adult life. Growing up, I played hockey, baseball, and joined Cadets. By staying in Fort Macleod, I was able to remain close with so many lifelong friends.
I had a great career with TransCanada Pipeline, that spanned 30 years. Then, in 2008 my lifelong dream to own a business came true when Barb and I started Lexcomp Ltd. Pipeline Services.
I spent 13 years as a volunteer with the Fort Macleod Fire Department, where I learned so much. I worked beside the greatest guys, who were like a second family.
Barb & I were high school sweethearts and married 45 years ago. We had one daughter Nichole. She brought Neil into our family, and I finally had my son. They completed our family with the addition of our grandchildren Alexis and Nolan.
Motorbiking was a big part of our lives, with Barb as my passenger – from our teenager days right up until she became a rider on her own bike at the age of 42. We then had 22 years of biking side by side. We enjoyed annual trips with my brothers. We covered many miles in Canada & the USA, as a member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club, an international group of firemen who ride motorcycles.
Barb & I spent 9 winters in Mesa, Arizona enjoying the warm temperatures and great camaraderie. We met wonderful people from both Canada and the USA.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, #200, 325 Manning Rd NE , Calgary, AB T2E 2P5, in memory of my family & friends who were taken by cancer, and in honour of those who are still fighting.
For those who knew me well, it is no surprise that there will be no funeral service.
