Obituary of Thérese Laporte
On Tuesday March 13, 2021 Thérese Laporte passed away peacefully at Le Centre d’Hébergement Champlain de l’Assomption in St-Georges de Beauce, Quebec.
She leaves behind two sons André Laporte (Lynh Mai) and Marc Laporte both of Calgary, as well as her only grandson Allan of Calgary. She will be forever remembered by her siblings Francine Howard, and Marc-André Giroux (Michelle Labbé) from Beauceville, Réjeanne (René) Savard of Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade, Liliane ( Jean-Paul) Coté of Kapuskasing and Cecile Giroux and Sylvie (Jean-Luc) Meilleur from St- Eustache. Predeceased by her parents André Giroux and Antoinette Nadeau of Beauceville, her loving husband Roger Laporte (1999), her youngest son Yvan from Haileyberry (2020), and her sister Jacqueline (Luc) Thibodeau of Beauceville (2020).
Thérese was born in Beauceville, Quebec in 1935. She had been living in Port Colborne since the mid- fifties and enjoying life to the fullest until 2010 when she suffered a devastating stroke that greatly limited her normal life. During the next 3 years her health deteriorated to a point that she no longer could live in her home, and then she reluctantly decided to move into Le Centre d’Hébergement near family members.
Thérese was a long time member of Le Club des Ainés de Port Colborne. Also, for many years, she had been a dedicated volunteer for the Red Cross.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. Due to current health restrictions, there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
