Obituary of Bobby James Mulcahy
What began Friday, January 31, 1975, came to an unexpected end Saturday, April 17, 2021. It is with inconsolable grief that we announce the loss of Bobby James Mulcahy. A poet, musician, writer, artist, intellectual, maker of contraptions, brilliant, and witty, he was the best coach any little Marvin could ever have hoped for. Bobby was a playful soul with a workman’s attitude.
He was the definition of kind and would never intentionally hurt anyone or anything. He made everyone who came into his orbit feel special and gave them the name that he knew they should have. He was the facilitator, overlapping social circles to make sure you met those who should be « your people » and improving all of our lives in the process. Everything was done with passion and joy. He was strong, physically, and morally, and always took the high road. Bobby was the smartest person in the room and was rarely shy about telling you. He was a connoisseur of exceptional food and fine spirits but could also throw together the best shore lunch you would ever eat. A beautiful man that could show you how to find magic in a harsh world, words cannot do him justice. He will be fondly remembered every time we drink Scotch, listen to Tom Waits, read Lord of the Rings, groan at a bad pun or ask ourselves what this is all about.
He is survived by his biggest fan, his Marmalade, Jacqueline Nichols, his loving parents Brenda Wood (Doug), and George and Liz Mulcahy, his siblings: Pete Mulcahy (Angela), Lori Mulcahy, Mark Mulcahy, James Fraser (Melissa), Daniel Fraser (Alannah), his nephews and nieces, of whom he could not have been more proud; Joey, George, Jack, Trinity, Ryan, Kevin, Fynndlay, Connor and Breannah, his father-in-law Norman Nichols (late Mary), brother-in-law Norman J. Nichols and his honorary family, the McIntyres, Penny (late Arnold), Michael (Marie-Andree), and Patrick(Melissa).
Celebrations were important to Bobby with things like birthdays, especially his own, requiring weeks not days. In keeping with his wishes there will be no service, but a celebration of life will take place at a later time. In true Bobby style, it will be an entire week.
In lieu of donations Bobby would request that you spoil your pets.
