Leverne Bushy Anthony Lund April 1st 2021

Leverne “Bushy” Anthony Lund, husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle passed away suddenly in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the age of 67.
Bushy will be forever remembered by his wife and friend Wendy; his son and light of his life Brett, his daughter-in-law Stephanie and their two children Ryann and Brooks; and his 24/7 four-legged companion Belle.
Leverne will also be fondly remembered by his mother Clara; his brothers Randy, Terry, Greg (Che) and Wade (Leah); his sister Anita (Ian) and their children Dakota, Kristie Bredy and family; aunts Alvina Frosberg and Sophie Peterson; brother-in-law Kim White; sisters-in-law Judy Powroznik, Lynda Barroby (Sunny) and Doreen White; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his dad Vernon (Corky); grandparents Anton and Ellen Lund and Cornil and Bertha Ulledalen; in-laws Jack and Harriet White; brothers-in-law Terry White, Danny White, Clay White and Bob Powroznik; and sister-in-law Sandra White.
Leverne was born to Vernon and Clara Lund on March 18, 1954 in Regina, Saskatchewan. He grew up on a farm in Lake Alma, Saskatchewan with his parents and younger siblings. He attended school in Lake Alma and Gladmar, Saskatchewan. When Bushy was 14 years old, he started to sneak away from home on the weekends to go to rodeos and this was the start of his lifelong love of the sport and lifestyle. After graduating in 1972, he followed his dreams to the Foothills west of Nanton, Alberta to fulfill his calling as a cowboy. He later returned to Saskatchewan working, rodeoing, and having fun. In 1976, rodeoing brought him to Maple Creek, Saskatchewan where he met his wife Wendy White and ended up staying for 45 years. He would only briefly leave to run a grazing lease in Porcupine Hills, Alberta and to drywall in Calgary, Alberta and Canmore, Alberta.
Bushy was very versatile, from drywalling, to cement work, to building houses, to doing leather work, to running a ranch and raising cattle. He loved working with cattle and was able to until he passed away. Regardless of what he did, he always put his heart and soul into it.
In his younger days, Bushy was a ball player, so it was only natural that he would help coach when Brett played. He was so very proud to help coach such a great group of kids to two Provincial Championships – one in Pee-Wee and one in Bantam. He also helped coach hockey and was the President of the White Mud Hockey League for one year. This was quite an accomplishment because the only hockey he played was in the first battle of the Little Big Puck in Maple Creek. He also was an Elks member, on the rodeo committee (serving as President), and a Kinsmen member. He served as President of the Kinsmen Club and enjoyed the work and fellowship it entailed. He took pride in the fact that he was able to help design and build BEULAH the cow, which the Maple Creek Kinsmen walked to Regina, Saskatchewan for Kinsmen Telemiracle.
Bushy’s family meant the world to him. Everything he did was for them. He was so proud of Brett, Stephanie, Ryann and Brooks. They made his life complete. He loved his family, friends, hard work and of course a drink (or two) of whiskey and water. There was never anything else that he felt he ever needed.
He will forever be loved and dearly missed, as he embarks on his new journey.
“Yippie Ki Yah my love, let’r buck!”
Memorial donations in Leverne’s (Bushy) memory may be made to Kinsmen Telemiracle (www.telemiracle.com) or to the Maple Creek Rodeo (c/o Showdown in Cowtown, Box 1114, Maple Creek, SK S0N 1N0)
Due to Covid-19 restrictions a gathering will be held at a later date.
