Obituary
Howard Milton MacMillan, our beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021 at the age of 87 years.
Howard was born in McLennan, Alberta and as a young man joined the Navy, serving during the Korean War. After the war, he was a baker for a while; however, he will be remembered from his time with O’Connors Menswear. Although always sharply dressed, Howard was down to earth and highly respected by his friends and colleagues. He was involved in the community through the Calgary Jaycees, the Stampede Board, the Rangeland Hockey League (as a coach), and was a participant and organizer of the Tai Chi Club at the local senior’s centre. He loved classic country music, playing cards and board games, and watching old western movies. Together with his wife Terry, they loved to entertain and hosted many lively house parties.
Howard will be lovingly remembered by his four children: Karen (Monty), Dawn, Bruce, and Lynne (Eric); his five grandchildren: Kelsey, Meghan, Samantha, Thomas, and Andre; his sister, Edith; sister-in-law, Alice; as well as many other family and friends. He was predeceased by Terry, his loving wife of 61 years. Howard will be truly missed and always in our hearts. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Now there is no more physical pain or restrictions, and he is dancing with mom forever.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Newport Harbour Care Centre for their dedication and hard work. We appreciate the love and care you showed Howard. We truly appreciate all you do.
Due to current restrictions, no service will be held, however, in lieu of flowers, donations in Howard’s name can be made to Parkinson Canada (www.parkinson.ca/) or the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca/).
