Hartmut (Harry) Brandt (77) of Fergus, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
Hartmut is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Marianne, daughters Veronica Brandt Moeskops (Mike) and Christina Meyer (Robert), and his grandchildren Sierra, Mackenzie, Anja, Quinn and Maximilian. He is also survived by his sister Ina Ehrlich, brother Arno Brandt (Margo), his brother-in-law Klaus Malinowski as well as many nieces and nephews and close cousins in Germany. Predeceased by his parents, brother-in-law Peter Ehrlich and sister-in-law Rosemarie Malinowski.
Hartmut was born in Ploensen, Germany to Alfred and Erna Brandt on March 27, 1944. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1956. Hartmut was an active member of the German Canadian Club in Guelph and loved dancing there with his wife. He commuted back and forth to Pearson International Airport while working for Air Canada for 28 years. He was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in Fergus.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Jafferjee, PSWs Jean, Crystal, Murray, Nurse Heather and all others that have been involved in his care over the past two and a half years. We would also like to thank our neighbours on Bon Accord and friends at Faith who took the time to drop off food, visit and offer emotional support.
Family and friends may visit at the Graham A. Giddy Funeral Home in Fergus on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9. Visitors must RSVP and wear a mask. A private funeral service will be held on April 20, 2021.
