Obituary of Peter Klassen
Peter Klassen, age 91, of Winnipeg, MB., passed away peacefully on Monday, April 5th, 2021, at Grace Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.
He is survived by his beloved wife Eva and their 4 daughters, Martha (Gerhard), Tina (Isaac), Helga (Levi), Anita (Waldy), three sons, Dietrich (Neta), Hein (Shelley), Jasch (Alma), two sisters, four brothers, 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his daughter Maria (Ed), his parents, three brothers as well as many brothers and sisters in law.
Peter was born on December 13th, 1929, in Paraguay and moved with his wife and their eight children to Winnipeg in 1976. He loved his Lord at an early age and committed his life to following Him and encouraging others to do the same. He also loved his wife and family unconditionally. Each grandchild and great-grandchild brought him great joy. He loved to study his Bible (he still had his first Bible which he had saved up for a long time to purchase in his youth) and spent many years as a pastor, teacher and Bible study leader.
Peter was always a very generous and their home was always open to everyone. He took great pleasure in feeding people and always made sure to have candy in his pocket in case there was a chance that he might see one of his grandchildren or great-grandchildren.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
A come & go viewing will be held on Sunday, April 11th, 2021 from 6:00p.m. – 7:00p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
A livestreamed private family service will be held on Monday, April 12th at 10:00a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB., with interment to follow at Sage Creek Cemetery (Mennonite Memorial Gardens), Winnipeg, MB.
