Edward “Ned” John Manderson
1940 – 2021
Edward “Ned” John Manderson husband of Shirley (Dupuis) Manderson, passed away at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, NB on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at the age of 80. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of Edward and Ruby (Bowes) Manderson.
Ned retired from Miramichi Valley High School as principal in 1997. He spent 34 years in education and loved every minute of it, he had a great connection with the students. Ned was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. Ned was an avid reader and also had a great love for animals. He will be missed by his dog, Legend and his little buddy Jack Ryan. Ned had many accomplishments in his life but was most proud of his family and “the apple of his eye” grandson, Robert.
Ned is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley; daughter: Kim McAllister (Darwin) of Newcastle, NB; grandson: Robert; sisters: Nancy Simpson (Craig) of Chatham, NB and Kathy Silliker (Fred) of Newcastle, NB; brother: Ronnie (Barbara Jean) Manderson of Newcastle, NB, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents: Edward and Ruby, Ned is predeceased by brother: Allan and sister: Susan.
At Ned’s request there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A public Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Miramichi on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 2 PM with Father Godwin Kalu and Father John Fraser officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Please note: Members of the Miramichi Area Retired Teacher’s Association who have pre-registered are asked to meet at the Church at 1:30 PM to be seated as a group.
Please note: Due to Covid-19, masks and social distancing are mandatory at the Funeral Mass.
