Obituary of Victoire « Vicky » Losier
LOSIER, Victoire (nee Rioux)
It is with heavy hearts that our family announces the peaceful passing of Victoire “Vicky” on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the age of 88. Mom was surrounded by her loving family when she went to join her loving husband Napoléon (1982) who was waiting for her with open arms and a big grin. Also waiting for Victoire are her sisters: Thérèse Arseneau (2007), Rita Duguay (2014) and Lauraine Thériault (2016) with whom Mom will have a lot of catching up to do. Mom is the loving mother of Yves (Maryann) Losier, Sylvie (Gerd) Sauer, Mylène (Bill) Oljans, Marc (Darlene) Losier and an infant twin son (1962); and loving sister to Anne-Marie Pinet Paquetville, NB. Mom was known as “grand-maman” to her beautiful grand-children: Andrew (Danielle), Jacquelyn (2017), Natalie (Alex), Stephanie, Stéfan (Josée), Erik, Maggie, and Evelyn and step grand-child Krystle (Ryan); and as well as a great-grand-maman to her cherished great-grand-daughters: Wynter, Charlotte, and Audrey, and step-great-granddaughter Ava.
Mom was born in New Brunswick in 1932 to Joseph Rioux (1980) and Lina Brideau (1942). She worked in Montréal in the 1950’s and married dad in 1957. Mom and dad started their family and resided in Valleyfield, Québec until 1972. Our family moved to Stoney Creek and continued making beautiful memories. Abruptly becoming a widow at age 50, mom found the strength to endure, especially by surrounding herself with her big growing family whom she was so proud of. Nothing made her more content then spending time with her treasured grand-children and great-grand-children. Mom was the ultimate doting grand-maman and was always so delighted to be in their presence. Our family takes great pride having learned from an adoring and strong woman. Her strength was also prevalent during her two bouts with breast cancer and her Covid-19 diagnosis in October.
Mom particularly showed her love to family and friends with her cooking. Her pies were her signature dish: especially her cherry pies!! Of course, growing up, we as her kids didn’t always appreciate her boiled dinners and over-cooked green beans! However, we are sure dad has already asked her for her famous raisin pie.
We would like to thank the Village of Tansley Woods for their exceptional care, especially from Alex, Sasha and Charlotte and the whole Memory Care floor staff. Mom’s dementia struggles were always met with such passionate and caring attention. The staff was especially compassionate caregivers during her Covid diagnosis. They became mom’s second family during the pandemic lockdowns. Thank you also to Dr. A. Jerome and the compassionate staff of 6 South of Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington. Merci aussi à Janine Chaisson pour son amitié. Maman parlait souvent de vous.
Cremation has taken place. A private service will be held at Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, Stoney Creek on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. which will be livestreamed on the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial to follow immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Society or a charity close to your heart. Notes of sympathy and condolence may be left at www.donaldvbrown.ca
