Following a decline in health due to dementia, Doris passed away Thursday March 24th in her room at Seasons Retirement Home in Milton. Doris was born in Windsor on June 30, 1932 to Edmund and Lena (Laporte) Cecile where she grew up with her sisters Donna Marie Lefrancois and Audrey Trudell (Limoges). She was dearly loved by her late husband’s George Talpas and Robert Merlo and longtime partner Vernon Richards. She was a dear mother to Kathryn Corcoran (Carl), Kenneth Talpas (Anita), Christopher Talpas (Susan), and Michael Talpas. She was loved by Robert’s children Janice Call (Tom) and Doug Merlo (Beth). Her many grandchildren are Amanda, Bailey, Jamie, Scott, Emily, Matthew, Natalie, Michael, Allison, Jordan, Shea, and Bella and great-grandchildren Owen and Eva. She will be fondly remembered by all for her love of life, flair for fashion, and artistic creativity in the areas of painting, ceramics and paper tolling. Her other hobbies included cooking, curling and travel. The family would like to especially thank the wonderful staff in the Memory Care unit of Seasons whose loving care and friendship helped make Doris’ final years and days as comfortable as possible. Doris is being cremated and the family will be having a memorial service and internment of her ashes later in the summer in the Windsor area once the COVID situation allows for larger gatherings. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada in her memory.
