“My Mother, she was there for my first breath and I was there for her last”
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, wife, avó, and bisavó on March 22, 2021, at the age of 84. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by those she loved as she took her last breath.
Mom was the ultimate example of a life dedicated to family and faith. She is survived by her loving husband, Serafim, children; Elisabete (Drew), Manuel, Maria (David), Anna (Ernesto), grandchildren whom she treasured dearly, Matthew (Stephanie), Andria (Filip), and great grand-daughters; Sophie, Claire, and Luciana. She is also survived by her sister and brothers Maria, Antonio (Rita), and Jose Adriano (Filomena), and many nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins, and special friends. Conceição was predeceased by her parents Manuel and Maria da Conceição Sousa Cordeiro, her brother Manuel Sousa and her twin sister, Ana de Sousa.
She was born in Arrifes, Sao Miguel, Acores, Portugal, was married in 1962 and immigrated to Canada in 1963. Conceição was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother with a kind and generous soul who always put the needs of others before her own. Now she can rest in the arms of her Maker.

Viewing at Kearney Burnaby Chapel, 4715 Hastings Street, Burnaby, on Friday, March 26th from 4:00 to 5:30 pm by appointment only, please contact the family if you wish to attend.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 29th, 2021 at Our Lady of Fatima Portuguese Parish, Vancouver. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Vancouver following the service.
