Louise Marion Kulka 2021

It is with great sadness that the family of Louise Kulka (aka Lucky) announces her passing in Calgary on March 10, 2021 at the age of 83 years.
Louise will be greatly missed by her son Brent and his wife Kiyo in Calgary, her daughter Laura Klomp and her husband Mike Arbuthnott in Thunder Bay Ontario, her grandchildren Anthony and Tomoe Kulka in Calgary and her sister Jean Schuster and her husband Ron, as well as Jeanine, Cathy, Ken, Shawna and Glenn Kulka and her extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband Leslie Kulka, her parents Leo and Emma Herder and her niece Joanne Schuster and brother-in-law Stan Kulka.
Louise was born and raised in Edmonton and graduated from Eastglen High School. She was a talented musician and played piano with a teenage band, she also played the organ at church for both English and German services. She was an avid golfer and retired as a manager at Inglewood Golf and Country Club and continued to golf for pleasure. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved to spend time at Seba Beach with family.
I wanted to say a few words about our mother Louise Kulka. We were very lucky to have her as our mother. She went through many adversities throughout her life. Losing the love of her life, our father Leslie Kulka was the most painful for all of us. She pulled herself up and continued for both Brent and I. Through her life she made a lot of great friends and had a smile for everyone. She was one of those people who had a great kind heart and could make you feel loved. Louise loved life, even through many complicated health issues, she never gave up. She loved her whole family and all her friends with all her heart, and we all loved her back. Some of her happiest moments were with Brent, Kiyo, Anthony, Tomoe, Mike and me having a delicious roast at her table. She also loved spending time at the lake with Aunt Jean and Uncle Ron and family. Of course, she loved her golf trips with Jean. My thought is that she has been reunited with Les and they are finally at peace.
She will be missed every day and she will always be loved. Louise had many accomplishments throughout her life. She was Miss Belleve Teen in 1956 and was the runner up for Miss Teen Edmonton. She was an avid basketball player in high school and could out shoot the coach. Playing the piano was another of her passions. She played in a popular band that played in many events around Edmonton. Here she made many good friends such as Zen Magus. She also did some work with Tommy Banks. Louise also gave back to the community by playing the organ at St. John’s Lutheran church on Sundays and other events.
The highlight of her professional career was becoming the manager of Inglewood Golf and Country Club. Her positive energetic personality made her popular with both staff and patrons. It was always interesting to hear stories about Randy, Roman and Rick and the events that occurred at the course. She will be sadly missed by all.
Robert Munch wrote a children’s story call, “Love You Forever” I discovered this book as a university student teaching elementary students. It’s about a boy who is raised is by a wonderful mother. The mother tells the son she will love him forever. Gradually, as in life the tables turn and the mother is in the care of the son and he tells her he will love her forever. Years ago, I bought the book and gave it to mom. Over the years I became the care giver trying to do my best to take care of her. I will always love you forever mom!
It was an honor to be raised by such a loving caring mom who always took care of us and had our best interests in mind.
We will miss her happy, friendly personality and carry with us all the good memories.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Louise Marion Kulka 2021..
