Obituary for
Nick Gushaty
It is with great sadness that the family of Nick Gushaty announce his passing on March 5, 2021 at the age of 94 years.
Nick will be lovingly remembered by his son, Leonard (Daria); daughter, Evelyn Fray; grandchildren, Nicholas Gushaty, Koree (Dave) Seiben and Kurtis (Caroline) Fray; great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Reese Sieben; Emerson, Morgan and Grayson Fray; and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Pearl; parents, Wasyl and Elana; brothers, John and Metro; and sisters, Sophie Babchuk and Mary Lakusta.
Nick was born in Soda Lake, AB and grew up farming in the Norma, AB area. He achieved a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alberta in 1962. He moved to Edmonton and worked for AGT until he retired in 1983, all the while continuing to be a farmer. Nick enjoyed photography, computers, fishing, camping, playing accordion, dancing, and repairing cars and farm machinery. He helped his family out in many kind and caring ways. May his memory be eternal. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Nick’s memory to the Parkinson’s Society of Alberta.
Due to Covid 19, private family services will be held at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton.
Prayer Service Friday, March 12 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service Saturday, March 13 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Very Reverend Cornell Zubritsky officiating.
