Obituary of Mildred Frampton
Mildred Elizabeth (Clarke) Frampton was born on August 28th, 1922 at Crocker’s Cove (the Point), Carbonear to the late Rosa Belle (Pilgrim) and Wilson Clarke. Allan was her younger brother (1927-91). Her academic education began in a single-room school at Crocker’s Cove; continued up to grade 10 in the United Church College at Carbonear; and finished with grade 11 back at Crocker’s Cove. During her teenage years, the Great Depression and World War II strained meagre resources. One of Mildred’s responses to it was to knit. Marcus became her husband in 1942. There upon she moved to Victoria. They had a house built under the Ridge and soon she became a mother to five children – Gordon, Shirley (1945-2018), Raymond, Ronald and Yvonne. While Marcus operated heavy equipment away, she mothered, farmed vegetables and livestock, and helped to procure fire wood. After Marcus died in 1985, she returned to her roots in the church – Victoria United Church- there to serve as an Elder, member of the Choir and UCW (Life Member). As well, she added her energy to the work of the LOBA, Women’s Institute, and Hospital Auxiliary and Harbour Lodge gift shops. Over the years she was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Her life was completed on February 16, 2021 surrounded by love at Ryan Hall, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. For over 10 years, the Ryan Hall staff treated her with grace and dignity for which she sincerely praised them. Her family thanks them. To honour her life, we suggest that you do an act of compassion and kindness. Details of the memorial service and the interment will be provided when they become available.
