Aloysius Mullin 2021

It is with broken hearts and great sorrow that the family of Aloysius (Al or Wishy) Lawrence Mullin- 62, of Trout Brook Miramichi; announce his peaceful passing at Moncton City Hospital on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
Al was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Kelly) Mullin.
Al leaves behind his greatest loves who brought happiness into his world and he will live on joyfully in their hearts; his wife Leanne (Holmes) was beside his side until the end; son Kyle (Linlin); daughter Morgan (Oliver); and his pride and joy granddaughter Grace.
Also left to mourn his absence are his brother Ben (Helen) Mullin of Trout Brook; four sisters Patricia (Fred) Tozer, Marilyn Mullin, Bernadette Mullin all of Moncton and Colleen (Ken Fletcher) Mullin of Summerside.
He will be lovely remembered by his nieces and nephews; Greg, Lisa, Jerry, Roger, Kirk, Jon, Charles; as well as a large extended family.
He was predeceased by his sister Theresa, infant sister Cecelia, and brother-in-law Fred Tozer.
Al faced life with unsurmountable faith and strength, in his quiet unassuming way. He so appreciated the friends he made and the support he received over the past 30 years at Miramichi Castle Group and with the Matt Talbot retreat organization.
As a Civil Engineering Technologist he was employed by the Department of Environment and Local Government in the Miramichi Region as an Environmental Inspector since 1989, after working for Acadia Consultants in Fredericton and Moncton. Al was committed to being a “Life Long Learner” he pushed himself to continuously stay informed on all aspects of his work and to broaden his mind to understand the changing ways of society, which allowed him to assist others without judgement.
Hardworking and skilled he lived by his commitment to his community. He put great effort into helping people deal with the difficulties faced during environmental emergencies. He treated his colleagues and coworkers with respect and never missed an opportunity to have a good laugh. Giving back was important to Al; one of his contributions was as a regular blood donor giving the “Gift of Life” 83 times.
Al was the first vice-president of the New Brunswick Union (NBU) having been recently elected to a fifth consecutive term. As a member of the NBU for more than 25 years, he held almost every position within the union and applied his knowledge at both the provincial and federal levels.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Al loved the outdoors spending time cutting and piling wood, cutting grass, or blowing snow. He enjoyed the simple things in life and was happiest taking a long walk with Leanne, having a family dinner, and taking day trips with his children when they were younger. There were many memorable trips enjoyed all across Canada, and several visits to China that were very meaningful to Al.
The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Adams, Dr. Juravsky, Dr. Alqdah, Dr. Telegursky and Dr. Chearest, and the many exceptional nurses of the ICU Neurosurgery Unit for their outstanding care and commitment.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a funeral service will be postponed until a later date.
If so desired, donations made to the Newcastle Library (through the NB Library Foundation), Ability New Brunswick Inc or Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St, telephone (506) 622-7741
