Obituary of Daniel Bryk
Bryk, Daniel – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Daniel in his 100th year. He passed suddenly yet peacefully at home. Thankfully God granted his fervent wish that he die in the comfort of his own home. Beloved husband to the late Helen (2020) for 75 years. Cherished and devoted father of Lucile Matias (Raymond) and son Ray (2004). Loving grandfather of Davina (Craig), Martin and Paula. Predeceased by all his siblings: Martin, Stanley, Roman, Walter, Caroline and Mary. Daniel will be lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and those who joined him in celebrating his 100th birthday; a major milestone that he had been determined to reach. His positive attitude and will to live each day to the fullest inspired others. A special thank you to Carol S., Stan, Phyllis and Carol G. for their frequent phone calls and visits. You enriched your uncle’s life. A heartfelt thank you to Kanar, Daniel’s favourite PSW. He always looked forward to your visits. Your dedication, caring and ability to make him laugh was a precious gift.
Daniel emigrated to Canada in 1938 with several of his family members. They came to join his older siblings Martin and Stanley. He had a very supportive family with remarkable values. All the working brothers pooled their earnings and after having family conferences would mutually decide who would buy a house or farmland to get each of them established. Daniel worked at Stelco for 6 years in the 40’s and then bought a fruit farm on Barton St. in Saltfleet. He later farmed in Jordan for many decades, retiring in his 80’s. He belonged to the Polish Symfonia Choir for many years and enjoyed the camaraderie and extensive trips the group took. He was also a proud 50 year member of the Polish Alliance of Canada. Daniel loved traveling to many countries. He especially enjoyed his winter stays in Florida. He took great pride in his home and yard, and loved shaping all his shrubs to perfection. He will also be remembered for extending a helping hand to many new immigrants throughout the years.
A private service and interment will be held this week and a Celebration of Daniel’s Life will be planned in the future.
