Boniface John Beson 1937 2021

Obituary of Boniface John Beson
Passed peacefully away on December 19, 2021, Boniface (Bon) John Beson at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. He was 84 years of age. He was predeceased by his parents Helen (nee. Tubrett) and Lambert Beson and his younger brother Herman.
Bon was born July 3, 1937 and grew up in Grand Falls-Windsor where he met the love of his life Georgina (nee. Rice) Beson. Together they raised 7 children.
Anyone who knew Bon knew that he was a real woodsman through and through. He could often be found with a kitbag on his back and fishing rod in hand walking the long journey through the back of Windsor. This brought him in through Tubrettsville, down over Anderson’s and Langdowns ridge, past Pinsents pond in through Mosseyboo and down through Scoters. This was often after a long shift at the hospital and a quick stop home. He loved fishing and hunting and took pride in providing the day’s catch for supper. Georgina would often join him on the long trek where they would spend hours berry picking or competing to see who could catch the most fish and this continued long past retirement.
After a very fulfilling 30 years of service, Bon retired from the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center in 1995. During his time there, Bon worked mainly in housekeeping in the OR department. He was known for always having a smile on his face, his great work ethic and dedication. He walked to and from work everyday, rain, snow, or shine. He took pride in his work and thoroughly enjoyed his career, especially the socialization. And everyone knows that Bon sure loved a good chat!
Bon dearly loved his family. His wife Georgina was the center of his world. He loved spending time with his children and especially adored when his grandchildren and in later years his great grandchildren came to visit. He would always have a story to tell or a treat to offer. He was so very proud of his children and grandchildren and wasted no time letting them and everyone else know. Bon never had a bad word to say about anyone nor anyone about him. To know Bon was to love him.
He will always and forever be in our hearts. Bon leaves to mourn his wife Georgina, children Regina (Gerard) Murphy, Neil, Eddie (Brenda), Michelle (Terry) Paul, Darren, Eileen (Bill) Brenton, Tina (Shawn) Kinsella; grandchildren Brian (Rhonda) Murphy, Andrea (Mark) Vaters, Christopher (Leslie) Beson, Aaron, Maranda, Mckenzie, Cassidy, Sara, Hailey, Matthew: great grandchildren William, Kyle, Carter, Noah, Grayson, Luke, Emmie, Cole, Ivie and Luna; siblings Edward (Martha), Peggy (Jim) Barker, Dolores, Pierce, Paul (Marilyn), Tony (Jill), Helen and a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor. Father Joseph will conduct the funeral service at St. Joseph’s Parish on Wednesday at 11 am. Both the Vaxx Pass and Photo ID will be required for visitation and the service. Pallbearers will be sons Neil and Eddie Beson, brothers Edward, Pierce and Paul Beson, and son-in-law Gerard Murphy. Honorary pallbearers will be son Darren Beson, grandsons Brain Murphy and Christopher Beson, Son in laws Shawn Kinsella and Terry Paul.
A very special thank you to the staff of the Carmelite House in Grand Falls-Windsor, for all the love and care you have shown our father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather over the past several months.
Donations in Bon’s memory can be made to the Parkinson Society of Newfoundland & Labrador. Thank You.
Please call the funeral home to register a time for visitation.
