Obituary
Dianne Sorensen
September 8, 1949 – December 7, 2021
With great sadness we announce the passing of Dianne Sorensen, wife to Roy who will forever hold her in his heart.
Born Dianne Lynn Cusick in 1949, she lived in Pitt Meadows with her mother Stephani who passed in 2015, and father Elmer who passed in 1968. Also predeceased by sister Gail (Bob) vandenBrink in 2000. Her Brothers Les (Judy) Cusick, Dean (Margaret) Cusick and sister Lori Thomas survive her and will miss her dearly along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dianne was married to first husband Bryan Longmuir at 20 and was a devoted mother to sons Craig (Lilian) and Clarke (Corry), working hard to take care of them as kids and teach them good values. Grandchildren Camryn, Jackson, Dale, Jordan, Vincent, Julia were each like a wind beneath her wings and she was so proud of her grandkids. She loved taking care of them and rarely missed their school events and extracurricular activities.
Dianne married Roy Sorensen in 1995 and they lived in Pitt Meadows then Maple Ridge. They became one, as she loved Roy more than life itself and would do anything for him, and he for her. She also embraced Roy’s family the way she cherished all of her family. Roy’s mother Mona Springford passed in 2021. Dianne leaves stepchildren Lisa (David), Brenda (Ian) and grandchildren Raymond, Kris, Victoria, Jahmal, Jhai, Jada, Jaylen, Emma, great-granddaughter Aria.
Dianne studied at SFU and worked as a teacher, substitute and student aid. She also worked at a gift shop, Pandora’s Box (she always loved trinket gifts and keepsakes), then returned to teaching as a tutor at Sylvan Learning Centre before retiring early due to challenges after having been diagnosed with Lupus some years prior.
Dianne was always loyal to the Pitt Meadows community and enjoyed keeping in touch with old friends from school, attending events and following the town’s activities.
She had several great friends whom she held close to her heart and was so passionate about her friendships and considerate of others’ well-being, never missing an opportunity to lend an ear or offer support or humble advice. She was an integral member of her local Lupus support group and made such valuable friendships through this group. She also shared support with many others across Canada in online groups.
Great coffee, baking, lavender and butterflies were always in her thoughts, and she kept beautiful flower gardens. Her family will miss her so much and are so proud of her.
A service will be held at a later date in the spring – notice to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lupus Canada in her honour.
Dianne – Wife, Mom, Grandma, you are forever in our hearts and will always be loved and remembered. Rest in peace – you are free in Heaven.
