Gideon Rogers
1950-2021
It is with heavy hearts that we have to say goodbye to our loved one, Gideon Rogers of Port Union, NL. Predeceased by his parents Malcolm and Adeline Rogers, brothers Fred and Hedley. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Dallas (Hart) of 49 years, daughter Racquel (Tim), son Lorne (Curtis), grandsons Maddox and Noah. Sisters Jessie, Lydia, Joan, Beverley (Don), Barbara (Brad), brothers Norman (Bonnie), Malcolm (Donna), and a large number of nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law Joe(Ann) and sister-in-law Diane (Dave).
Gid was born in Sydney Cove, Bonavista Bay and at the age of 7 his family resettled in Elliston. In 1965 the family moved to Catalina and in 1968 Dallas and Gid became high school sweethearts. They married in 1972 and lived in St. John’s where Gid was employed by National Sea Products. They returned to Catalina in 1985 where he worked at Fishery Products until it closed. He then worked with the Barry Group from which he retired at the age of 70. Gid was quiet with a very dry sense of humour. He enjoyed having his buddies over for a good game of cards and a feed. He loved cooking, and took pride in splitting and drying his fish in the fall. He will be deeply missed!
Visitation will take place at the family home in Port Union on Saturday, December 18th. 10am- 10pm. Funeral service will be scheduled at a later date
