Death Notice
WOOD, Donna – passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021 at University Hospital’s Palliative Care department, London. Donna was surrounded by the love of her family; she was comfortable and at peace.
Predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years John Wood (2014), her parents Ross and Burgess Anderson and sister Gwen Linley. Loving mother of Shannon (Luis Tarrataca) of London, Brent (Laura) of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Shawn (Donna) of Strathroy. Devoted grandmother to Emma, Maddie, Sydney, Camdyn, Kellan, Taylor, Nicole, James, Tanner, and Billie. Dear sister-in-law of John of Kitchener, Wendy of Ottawa and Marjorie of Victoria. Fondly remembered by cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours.
Donna started working as an elementary school teacher. She took time away to devote to raising her family and supporting her husband through the family’s many cross country moves. She later became a preschool teacher and ultimately owner of Primary Colours and Cawthra Road Nursery Schools. Donna was a life long volunteer starting with teaching Sunday school at Colborne Street United Church. She spent time supporting the Alzheimer’s Society and residents of Chartwell’s Long Term Care Home. In her final months, Donna knit over 100 hats to be donated to those in need in London and Strathroy. She also established the JWW8 foundation, donating to various charities that held value to her family. She was selfless in her efforts to put her family first. Donna’s grandchildren will forever remember walks through the fairy forest, backwards dinners, sunsets and bonfires at the cottage, the countless card games and the hours playing dominos.
Shannon, Brent, Shawn and family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional care that their mom received at University Hospital, London. They are eternally grateful for the kindness and support shown to Donna and family by the incredible doctors, nurses, PSWs, and support staff at UH. Thank you.
Visitation on Sunday, December 19 from 2-4 pm at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond. In order to attend the funeral home visitation, masks, proof of full vaccination status, along with government issued ID are required for those 12 years of age and older. Cremation has taken place. Next spring, a memorial service will be held at Colborne St. United Church, followed by interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
