Wilfred Albert Trudeau, a resident of Wiikwemikoong Unceded Territory, Ontario passed away at
Health Science North Hospital, Sudbury, Ontario on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the age of 64 years.
Wilfred graduated from Canadore College, North Bay (Drug & Alcohol Counsellors Program); graduated from Laurentian University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He worked at Rainbow Lodge for 16 years. In addition, he travelled to many places across Canada, United States & South Korea. He conducted many Midewiwin ceremonies, sweatlodge ceremonies, naming ceremonies, pipe ceremonies & burial ceremonies. He was a waterdrum carrier, pipe carrier as well as carrying the 3 Fires Eagle Staff to many Eagle Staff events in the United States. He was an excellent traditional men’s dancer, a raindancer and sundancer. He was known as the Road Man in the Midewiwin Initiation Lodge. He enjoyed gardening and medicine picking throughout the year, having wiener roasts & birthday parties with his grandkids as well as car rides with his grandkids. Wilfred is predeceased by his parents Ambrose & Edna Trudeau, Predeceased by his baby daughter, Lindsay Marie (Misko aanked kwens:ba) Red Cloud and Grandson Waaweyeseh:ba (predeceased). He is survived by his wife Marie Trudeau (nee Eshkibok); his 2 daughters, Stephanie (friend Arien Jay Roy) and Elizabeth (Keegan Keeshig). Also survived by 5 grandchildren: Piitoweh Aanahkwat (Strong Sounding Cloud), Shki-aandseh Kwenhs (Sacred New Beginning Girl), Biidassige kwe (One who brings brightness/light) Delilah Cooper, Anjikwenhs (Forever Changing Woman) Sierra Cooper & Baashkanoodin (Piercing Wind) Jordan Trudeau. Also survived by his sisters & brothers: Brenda (Vern) Wabie (both predeceased), Urban (Marina predeceased) Mejaki, Theodore (predeceased) Bruce (predeceased), Niel (predeceased), Boniface, George, Craig (Fay) and considered Monica Mejaki his special sister. He is survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
