Elizabeth’s Obituary
BIBLE HILL – Elizabeth Louise “Betty” (Fraser) White, 89, Bible Hill, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021.
Elizabeth was born in Stellarton on March 12, 1932. She was the chosen daughter of Simon and Maria (Cavanaugh) Fraser. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her younger days she enjoyed playing cards, dancing and always loved animals.
Betty started her working career at Maritime Tel & Tel while still in high school. Later she worked at the Steel Works office until she and her late husband, Joseph White moved to Massachusetts. In 1987 they retired and moved back to Nova Scotia, buying a home in Valley (Truro). Betty and Joe volunteered their time with the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Association, and Truro SPCA.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Sylvester White; sisters, Viola Lavery, Christine Marr, Mae MacLean, Helen Johnston, Marion Campbell, and Jean Peers; brothers, James, Howard, Daniel, and Simon.
She is survived by nieces and nephews who were just like her own children, Colin (Carol) Campbell, Caribou River; Bob MacLean (Muriel Kennedy), Linacy; Sandra (Bernard) MacPhee, Dartmouth; Marilyn Melanson, Dartmouth; Lori (MacLean) Atwater (James Boutilier), Valley; many other nieces and nephews.
In honour of Betty’s wishes a graveside service will be held in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens in the spring of 2022.
Special thank you to the Victorian Order of Nurses, physicians, and nursing staff of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre for the excellent care she received over the years.
