DYKEMA, Gerben
Peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital on Sunday, December 5, 2021, the LORD called Gerb home to himself at the age of 75 years. Beloved husband of Jane (nee Smouter) for 50 years. Loved father of Brad and Sarah, Jason and Krystal, and Amber. Dear Papa of Malcolm, Saskia, Marley, Corbin, Gloria, Griffin, Faye, Phoenix, Roc, and Raven. Loved brother of Alice Versteeg, Ella and Nick Vandooren, Margaret and Fred† Heikamp, William ‘Bill’ and Elisabeth Dykema, Mary Dykema and Carl Graovac, and Helen and Andy† Wedzinga and brother-in-law of Jill and George Bohm, Albert and Helen Smouter, Mieke and Ben† VanderDeen, Irene and Frank Marchese, Robert and Alice Smouter, Alma and Bill Dykema, Henry and Jacquie Smouter, and John and Cindy Smouter as well as a loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Gerb was a valued employee of Appleby Transport/Voortman Cookies for many years and most recently for Syvret and Paddock Transportation. He will be also missed by his many colleagues and friends.
Friends may visit with the family at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at REHOBOTH CANADIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 1225 Dundas St., Burlington on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 11 a.m., Rev. Dr. G.H. Visscher officiating. A livestream link will be available. Due to pandemic gathering restrictions, please register your attendance for the visiting hours and the Funeral Service using the Sign Up link on the website obituary or by calling 905-689-4852. Interment to follow at Burlington Memorial Gardens.
