Sarazin; Daphne Elizabeth (McRoberts ) Daphne Sarazin was just 16 days shy of 75 when she passed following a year-long battle with cancer at Kingston General Hospital November 28. Her husband Jim, daughter Gina and son Jason were by her bedside during her final days. Jim recounted stories of their good times together, Gina kept telling her mom how much she loved her and Jason played some of Daphne’s favourite Patsy Cline songs.
Staying up beat was the way Daphne went though life, thinking of others first, happy to cook dinner on special occasions, playing euchre, dancing, working in her garden, going for walks and relaxing on the patio to enjoy a few sips of wine.
She made many friends at her workplace Dacon Corporation over a 25-year period and was well liked by everyone she met.
Daphne was born in Ottawa and arrived in Kingston with Jim in 1969 hoping to start a family. Gina was born in 1970 and Jason the following year. In 1976 Daphne gave birth to a daughter Jessie, who unfortunately predeceased her in 2016.
When she turned 50, Daphne kept telling her husband Jim she wanted grandchildren, and when she hit 60, she had six little darlings to spoil. Gina and her husband Troy Davis had Mira and Sara, Jason and his wife Mary raised Andrew and Alex, and Jessie brought up Cody Morrissette and Amber Sarazin.
There were many special people in Daphne’s life but five to mention are her wonderful sister Debbie, and her husband Deiter, her sister Linda, Jim’s sister Donna and her husband Jack Verheyden.
Daphne loved it when her sisters came to town, and she always looked forward to visiting Debbie in Kemptville and Linda in Brockville. The occasion happened several times every year. They called it Sister’s Day.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Friends desiring may contribute to the Cancer Society in memory of Daphne. On-line condolences and donations at www.wartmanfuneralhomes.com.
