Obituary of Jack Mitchell Benoit
BENOIT: Jack Mitchell –
A resident of Blenheim, and formerly of Chatham, Wallaceburg and Moraviantown, Jack Benoit passed away peacefully, honouring his Metis tradition at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with his daughter, sister, nephew and close friend by his side on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the age of 68.
Born in Chatham, Jack was the son of the late Ernie and Pearl (Martin) Benoit.
Survived by daughters Tammy Taylor (Christopher) of Alberta and Nicole Benoit of Blenheim.
Papa of Twilla Taylor, Dorion Payne, Justice Taylor, Darius Benoit-Pough, Keilian Robain and Athena Robain.
Brother to the late Armand, Simone, Jenny, Margaret, Richard, Linda, the late Roxanne, Ernie, Elaine, Barb, Donna, Jim, Rosemary, Pat and Darlene.
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends and extended family.
Jack mastered everything he put his hands to. He had a way with animals and even in his youth, he had a gift breaking horses. He had won many trophies related to pony pulls and coon hunt competitions.
He drove truck for many years with Dorner Transport and eventually went on to build transport trucks for Navistar, which he retired from after over 33 years of service.
Jack was fostered a great work ethic in his family and was firm but fair. He was instrumental in raising his grandsons and was the backbone of his family.
As per Jack’s wishes, he will be cremated and his ashes will be spread where the wild horses run.
