Obituary of William Hugh Maracle
Maracle, William `Bill`
Bill is survived by his big, loving family: his sons Tyler and Elliot (Suzanne); grandchildren Haydn, Emerson, and Barrett; mother Mrs. Theda Maracle; brothers and sisters, Gary (Lisa), Tim (Pam), Warren (late Jacky), Joe, Barbara (Bill), Donna (Tom), and Brenda/Pudge (Brian); good friend and cousin, Dave Spencer; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Dianne, to whom he was a committed and unwavering caregiver for many years. He is also predeceased by his father, William Lloyd Maracle.
Bill was a fantastic storyteller and always had a good one up his sleeve which would get everyone laughing about the wild antics of his youth. He was an incredibly accomplished self-taught musician. His home was often scattered with instruments, and he hosted frequent “jam sessions” and listening parties with his cousin Dave and others. His musicality inspired his sons to undertake their own instrumental endeavors, and he delighted crowds everywhere from local bars to family Thanksgiving celebrations. He enjoyed spending time with people in a no-fuss type of way; one favourite way to spend an afternoon was watching paranormal documentaries with his brother, Joe. He loved his family and friends, nature, reading and art. His creativity also extended into his professional work building houses. Not only did he build the house that he raised his family in, but also his son Tyler’s house. He had a way of making something beautiful from nothing.
He was exceptionally proud of his sons and loved his grandsons fiercely. He was a huge presence in Haydn and Emerson’s lives, living a mere 100 metres away. He was always there to get them on and off the school bus, and supervised them as they did what young boys do (which we all know is trouble). Bill also loved his newest grandson, Barrett, and we are devastated that he will grow up not knowing first-hand what an amazing Grampa he had. He will be missed dearly, and his memory will always live on.
A celebration of life will be held at the M.J. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Deseronto on Tuesday November 30th from 5-8pm., all are welcome.
Due to COVID restrictions we kindly asked that family and friends who will be attending the visitation be respectful of one another and practice physical distancing outside and inside the funeral home and face masks are required.
