Stanley “Carman Lamb November 11th 1939 November 14th 2021

Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Sunday, November 14, 2021, Stanley “Carman” Lamb passed away at the age of 82. Beloved husband of 50 years to the late Judy Lamb (2015). Loving father of Karen (John) Phipps and David Lamb. Cherished Papa/Grandpa to Connor, Sean and Sarah Phipps and Chase Lamb. Dear brother-in-law of Wendy (René) Carrière and uncle of Paul Bouzis and Philip Bouzis and their children. Predeceased by his parents Stanley and Bertha Lamb and by his sister Heather Tucker. Carman was a proud past member of the Rotary Club of Sarnia. He enjoyed many close friendships and travelling with Art and Beth Hawkes and camping in the truck camper with Marshall and Reta Manning. Carman and Judy had many precious memories with their Gourmet Group spanning decades of “good eats” and long friendships.
Carman was Santa for 48 years, beginning when Karen and David were young children. He never liked to be referred to as “playing” Santa, as he was Santa in the purest spirit. Our family all still believe in Santa! He visited the medically fragile children at Pathways and Bridgeview School, even learning how to sign “Santa loves you” for the deaf children. Carman loved visiting children as Santa at various schools and daycares. He was proud to be part of the Celebration of Lights from its inception until 2014, even riding to the event on a shiny red fire truck. Carman loved visiting the children on Aamjiwnaang First Nation, where is made an honorary member. Carman also loved visiting seniors, at the Sear Seniors Christmas parties and nursing homes. He also attended the Santa World Summit in Greenland, winning 3rd place in the world. One of the most rewarding experiences he had was to visit a young girl, whose dying wish was to have Santa visit her. He went over that Christmas Eve, and it had a profound effect on Carman and his family. As every child got off his knee, he would say, “Santa loves you, but more importantly, Jesus loves you.”
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Friday, November 19, 2021, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 1194 Murphy Rd., Sarnia, on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or River City Vineyard (cheques only at the funeral home please).
