Imelda Catherine McKinnon (Cormier)
1922-2021
RICHIBUCTO, NB – Imelda Catherine McKinnon, 98, of
Richibucto passed away peacefully at the Stella Maris Hospital,
Ste-Anne-de-Kent on Friday, November 12th,
2021. Born in Rexton, she was the daughter of the late Philias and
Pelagie (Allain) Cormier. Imelda did a lot of volunteer work for the
church and the community. She was a chartered member of the Catholic
Women’s League and also of the Richibucto Royal Canadian
Legion Branch #30 Ladies Auxiliary.
Imelda leaves to mourn two daughters, Carol McKinnon (late
Charlie) of Richibucto and Nora McKinnon-Strasser (late Tom) of New
York; her son, Norman McKinnon (Germain) of Pirogue; as well as her 10
grandchildren, Ronnie, Alan, Bill, Kevin, Craig, Charlie, Marla,
Stephen, William and Chantal and 12 great grandchildren, Tanner,
Robbie, Jesica, Heidi, Luke, Ethen, Andrew, Molly, Margo, Seth, Connor
and Riley.
Imelda will also be sadly missed by her two daughters-in-law,
Marie-Mai McKinnon (late Bernard) of Richibucto and Catherine Richard
(late Robert) of Maine; as well as by her many nieces and
nephews.
Besides her parents, Imelda was predeceased by her husband,
William McKinnon; daughter, Bernice McKinnon (late Don, late Bob); two
sons, Robert McKinnon (late Henrietta) and Bernard; a great grandson,
Wyatt; two sisters, Delia Bourgeois and Mamie Cormier; two brothers,
Leo and Ernest Cormier.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home,
Richibucto on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm ONLY. A funeral mass will be
celebrated on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 at
10:30am, St-Louis-de-Gonzague Roman Catholic Church. In lieu of
flowers, donations in memory of Imelda may be made to a charity of the
donor’s choice and would be appreciated by the
family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Robichaud and the staff at
the Stella Maris Hospital and also a very heartfelt thank you to
Imelda’s daughter-in-law, Marie-Mai for the exceptional care
that was provided to Imelda.
Following provincial COVID-19 regulations, visitors will be
required to provide proof of double COVID-19 vaccination and
government issued ID at the funeral home and at the church.
Masks are mandatory and we ask that social distancing is
respected.

Funeral Home in Richibucto (523-4252).
