Obituary of Robert « Bob » Mason
Mason, Bob (Robert) – It is with profound sadness that the family of Bob Mason announce his sudden but peaceful passing on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Trillium Health Care, Mississauga. Bob, in his 82nd year, beloved husband of June (nee Bahlmann) for 42 years. Loving father of Richard (Sandra), Karen (David Kirwan), Edmund (Maggie Ballantyne), Emma (Alfredo Coral), and Elizabeth (Kosta Mingoulin). Cherished grandfather of Brian, Lindsay, Wesley, Michael, Charlotte, Owen, Reid, Layla and Katherine. Bob is lovingly remembered by his siblings Jeffrey (Rosie), Frank (Mary Griffiths), Dorothy Mellors (Martin Wallis) and by brothers and sisters-in-law Owen (Estelle), Glenda (Geoff Philipps) and Kelvin (Noleen).
Bob loved his family and went to great lengths to ensure that both immediate and extended family remained connected across 3 continents. A Geologist by training, he was forever exploring and loved to travel, especially with his soulmate June. His travels around the world and many experiences made for amazing stories and gripping conversations. He was an active and committed member of the Anglican Church, both in Kingston and later in Picton, where he was a lay reader, choir director and occasional organist for several decades. Bob had a deep passion for music and nature, and his choice of Geology over music as a career allowed him to enjoy both. He even managed to get a piano shipped to the wilds of Botswana, where he worked and lived in the early 1960’s. He will be deeply missed by so many.
Friends will be received at the Jones Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Road, Georgetown, Ontario on Saturday, November 13, 2021 from 11:00am – 1:00 p.m. A Celebration of Bob’s life will follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m.
Guests attending in person must show proof of complete covid vaccination prior to entering the facility.
