Obituary
Glenna Ruth Hutchings, daughter of Tom and Gertrude Hutchings, grew up in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan. She remembered the war years when her father was in England with the Canadian Fire Fighters and every male relative was involved in one of the military groups. After the war and her father’s return, the family moved to Edmonton and Glenna enrolled in the Faculty of Education, graduating from the University of Alberta.
Glenna’s first teaching position was with the Fort Macleod Schools, where her home room was grade eight through ten. Over the years she taught in grades seven through ten and her passion was mathematics. Although she took a few years off when her daughters were young, she counted a teaching career of 39 years.
In 1952 Glenna married the love of her life, Arnoll Moorey and raised two daughters, Loralee Moorey and Barbara (Bill) Norgard. She was blessed with two grandchildren, Nichole (Neil) and Brad; and two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Nolan.
Glenna was active in Eastern Star, having served as Worthy Matron, Grand Electa, and Grand Representative. She loved playing bridge and bocce, and her daily walks.
Arnoll and Glenna were fortunate to travel after retirement and saw many parts of the world.
In recent years, following Arnoll’s death, Glenna enjoyed the Pioneer Lodge in Fort Macleod and The View in Lethbridge. Her final two years were with the love and care of the Fort Macleod Extendicare staff.
With COVID-19 limitations, there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fort Macleod Handi Bus. P.O. Box 881 Fort Macleod, AB T0L 0Z0
Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end, they simply mean, “I’ll miss you,” until we meet again.
Love Always, Barb, Nichole, Neil, Alexis & Nolan
“If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane, we’d walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.”
We will miss you. With our love, Loralee and Bradley
