Paraskevi Repoulis Sunday October 31st 2021

PARASKEVI REPOULIS
(nee SKAMANGIS)
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Paraskevi “Voula” Repoulis on October 31, 2021 at the age of 91. Voula is survived by her beloved husband Georgios of more than 68 years, her adoring children Michael, Vasili (Eva) and Despina (Salvatore), her cherished grandchildren Elliot, Leah (Rafi), Joseph, Phillip, Julia, Georgia, Alex, and predeceased by George, as well as her precious great-grandchildren Levi, Yael and Noam. She is predeceased by all of her five siblings, Sophia (Yianni), Argiri (Fifi), Vaggeli (Voula), Kosta (Fani) and Odyssea (Penelope). She is survived by her many nieces and nephews in Greece, Regina and Germany.
Voula lived a wonderful life starting in Gravouna, Greece where, as a young girl, she was taught how to cook by her beloved mother Theologia whereby she became an amazing cook to the delight of her family and friends. Seeing how strong and smart she was, her father, Georgios, had her help him in his farming business where he told her she was stronger than most men. She also helped raise her younger sister Sophia, (predeceased), whom she doted on. She then moved to Thessaloniki where she worked as a nurse’s aid. There she met and fell in love with her soulmate, Georgios. Georgios was a handsome naval officer and they made a beautiful couple. After getting married they moved to Athens where they had Michael and Vasili. They then moved to South Africa in 1963 where they both worked in the fur industry, as well as running a very successful restaurant. There they had their third child Despina. They decided to move to Canada in 1973 where her brother Argiri resided with his family in Regina. In search of a larger city, they decided to move to Toronto in 1974 where again Voula worked in the fur industry at Spadina where she was sought after by the various furriers for her excellent workmanship and speed. In 1980 Voula and Georgios opened their own fur store called “Voula’s Furs”.
Voula was strong, kind and loving and always enjoyed cooking for her family to whom she was devoted. She loved to travel to Greece where she would spend summers in Kavala, overlooking the beautiful Aegean Sea.
The family would like to thank the numerous doctors and nurses that provided such wonderful and compassionate care for her over many years, including Mackenzie Health Hospital. Service to be held at St. Panteleimon Greek Orthodox Church, 11323 Warden Ave, Markham at 11 am Friday, November 5, 2021. Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend. Friends and family are invited to share their words of comfort and remembrance at www.marshallfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or to Heart & Stroke.
