Obituary of Cynthia Elliott
It is with great sadness and sorrow that we, the family, are announcing the passing of Cynthia (Sis) Elliott.
Cynthia or Sis/Sissy as she was so fondly known as, passed away peacefully at her home in Millertown on October 28th, 2021 after a 6 year battle with ALS.
Sis was born in Buchans on June 25th, 1959 to Donald and Hazel Squires.
On September 11th 1982, she married the love of her life Junior and together they raised two daughters, who they loved and cherished unconditionally. Her family, especially her « girls » and grandchildren were her life and greatest accomplishment.
Sis was always up for a laugh. She was the funny in any and every room. Anyone who knew her, knew how contagious her laugh was and would smile themselves at her clever sayings and musings. She was one of the most generous people you’d ever meet, with the biggest heart around. She would do anything for anyone. Selfless in every sense of the word, she would put everyone first even after she became ill. Prior to her diagnosis, she could be found lending a hand in the community or local church, tending to anyone who needed a friend, baking and cooking up feeds for anyone who wanted it especially Junior. And of course spending as much time with her family. Having her house full of the people she loved would always bring a smile to her face even as her disease progressed. Sis was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Cynthia is predeceased by her parents, Donald and Hazel Squires and her father-in-law, Baxter Elliott Sr.
Leaving to mourn are her husband Baxter Jr, her « girls » Janine (Bernard) and Megan (Carson and Ryder) and her pride and joys, her grandchildren, Jaxon and Natalie.
Also leaving to mourn her brothers Glen, Russell (Kay), Darren (Darlene) and sisters Kim (Brian) and Patti Sue. In Laws, Scott (Linda), Glenn, Joanne, Todd (Tammy) and Dion (Thea). Her special mother in law Claudine who she lovingly referred to always as Ms. Elliott. And also her nephews, nieces, special family members and a large circle of friends.
Sis leaves behind lasting memories and will forever touch the lives of those who knew her. A piece of her lives on in each of those she touched over the years. A special thank you to those who have helped in any way while she was battling this disease especially her workers who helped with the day to day, you all hold a special place in her and her family’s hearts.
Following COVID regulations (double vaccination required) visitation will be on Sunday 2:30-4:30 at Hoskins Funeral Home, Grand Falls-Windsor.
Rev. Joan Antle will conducted the funeral service on Monday at 2 p.m. from the Anglican Church in Millertown.
