Obituary
Shirley Joyce Wiebe
June 14th, 1938 – September 26th, 2021
Shirley Joyce (Gregrash) was born in Sandy Lake, Manitoba on June 14, 1938. She was predeceased by her parents, John & Lillian Gregrash, brother Ken Gregresh, Great-granddaughter Alyssa Tomlinson.
Mom loved Jesus and professed Him as her Lord and Saviour. Mom then led her mother Lillian to the Lord and many others. Mom and Dad ministered the love of Jesus to many people in song, sharing their testimonies, teaching and leading bible studies. Teaching us about Jesus was very important to Mom and she led us to the Lord. Mom & Dad always tried to include us as they ministered to people. Mom was an excellent speaker full of the Love and Grace of God. Even in Mom & Dad’s senior years they continued ministering in song at Senior’s Blocks. All her life, Mom was an avid reader and one of Mom’s favourite pastimes was reading a good book sitting in the sun with a cup of hot coffee or tea. Her love of reading also led her to spending many years as the church librarian. Mom also thoroughly enjoyed the years she spent as a prayer counsellor at It’s A New Day Ministries. She truly blessed so many people. She always reminded us that we were children of the King. Mom was so graceful and always dressed for success. Mom also excelled over the years as a rental agent and building manager working for Qualico, Rancho Reality and Edison Rentals. With Mom’s showroom experience, she had a flare for decor and flower arranging and loved showing others how to make arrangements. She had so many, many talents. She loved to draw, paint and always took time sit and do crafts with her grandchildren. As a young adult, Mom was also a ballroom dance instructor. At any given time, Mom would teach the family how to waltz. Each of us would take a turn dancing with mom in the living room or kitchen. Cooking was also one of mom’s gifts. Mom’s cottage cheese perogies with white sauce were absolutely a family favourite as well as her famous apple pie and her cherry no-bake cheesecake. Mom saw beauty in every season but most of all Mom loved summer. She loved sitting in the warmth of the sun, camping in the RV and dreamed of one day going white-water rafting. Mom was always so full of life, laughter, fun and love. Mom had so many dreams that she wanted to fulfill. One dream to move to Alberta and live by the mountains came true in 2019 when Mom & Dad moved to Okotoks, Alberta, which moved them closer to most of their children and grandchildren. Mom always had a deep love for her children and I know her prayers for all her children & grandchildren will be answered as mom was a woman of Great Faith. Even though mom was a great prayer warrior and prayed for many others she had many health problems that increased over the last twenty or so years of her life which made heaven sound sweeter and sweeter everyday. No more pain, no more suffering … it is a glorious day for Mom. So many other relatives are excited to have Mom home in heaven with them. We know their prayers will be answered for us to one day join them with Jesus for eternity. As you said to us, Mom, we want to say back to you “I love you, I love you, I love you”.
