Kenneth Jennings Thursday October 7th 2021

« Absent from the body, present with the Lord »
Jennings, Kenneth Harry.
On October 7, 2021, at the age of 98, Ken passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus. Ken was a proud World War II veteran who served with the Royal Canadian Air Force as an instrument technician and later as an automatic pilot specialist. Following the end of the war, Ken began working at the local bank in King City, which started his lifelong passion for finance, eventually working his way up to become Vice President of Finance for the Canadian Acceptance Corporation. In his second career, Ken followed his other passion, real estate, and began selling apartment buildings for Glenn Haskett Realty, before ending his career with Skyview Realty in Markham. According to Skyview’s founder, Danny Iannuzziello, « Ken exemplified in his life the values of building lasting relationships and conducting business with integrity, » and started a special award in honour of Ken.
Ken was the beloved husband of Kathleen for just shy of 74 years and a wonderful dad to Avril Hracs (Frank), Ron, and Carol Patton (Gord). He was the beloved grandpa to Brian Hracs (Andrea), Austin Hracs (Natalie), Sarah Roisin (Fabian), and Ashley Crowley (Brendan), and great-grandpa to Lucas, Henry, and Charlotte. He is also fondly remembered by extended family and friends.
Ken met the love of his life, Kathleen, at a dance in Belfast, Ireland during WWII. After the war, Kathleen left her home in Ireland and travelled to Toronto to marry Ken in 1947. The happy couple eventually settled in Thornhill, where they lived in the same home for 60 years. They were long-time members of Bayview Glen Church, where they were actively involved for many years. Ken was an accomplished artist, antique car enthusiast, avid gardener, and stock market investor, always quick to pass on a hot stock tip or two! He had a quick wit, and an active and sharp mind right to the end. Ken truly loved God and his family and was kind to and interested in everyone he met. He had a gracious spirit and gave generously to his church and Christian missions. He lived his life with integrity and passion and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
One of Ken’s favourite bible verses was Proverbs 3:5-6:
« Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. »
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Ken’s life at a later date.
