Franchot Frank Frankie Gamaldo Monday October 4th 2021

Frank passed away peacefully with his family at his side at Riverview Health Centre on October 4, 2021. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 52 years Judy, and his three children Michele (Bob), Michael (Jodi), Daniel, four grandchildren Christopher, Derek, Brooke, Jackson, and great grandson Dylan. He will also be missed by his brothers Rudy (Wendy), Vibert (Eileen), and Victor (Eula). He was pre deceased by his parents Lilith and Hamilton Gamaldo, grandmother Alice Agard, and brothers Hubert (Betty), and William.
Frank was born on February 17, 1935 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and completed his high school at Queen’s Royal College. He worked for five years as a civil servant with the Trinidad Government before migrating to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1958 to attend United College and the University of Winnipeg. He later completed his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees. In 1966 he was employed by Red River Community College as an instructor in the Developmental Education Department for four years. After which he was promoted to program manager for the next twenty three years. For his last three years at the college he was appointed Director of Counselling Services. Frank grew up as a member of a very athletic family so it was no surprise to see that he was selected to represent his birth country of Trinidad in both soccer and cricket for about five years before coming to Winnipeg. In the 1960’s he represented Manitoba as a cricketeer and as a soccer player. Frank believed in giving something back to the sport of soccer which he loved so much. The youth of Charleswood were the benefactors of eleven years of his coaching.
In the 1970’s Frank was an active member of the CariCana Association of Winnipeg, and a recipient of The Trinidad and Tobago Nationals in Manitoba Certificate of Merit Award. After his retirement he formed a luncheon group for retired men primarily from the West Indies who worked and raised their families in Manitoba. The group meets once every month at the Viscount Gort.
Frank loved life, and greatly enjoyed being with his wife Judy, as well as his kids and all of his grandchildren and great grandchild. Frank’s family and many friends will dearly miss him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Siloam Mission. As per Frank’s request the family will be holding a private gathering to celebrate his life and share memories.
