Obituary of Tony D’Archi
Antonio (Tony) D’Archi. April 11, 1970 to February 8, 2021
Tony passed away unexpectedly in the evening of Monday, February 8th, 2021. He is survived by his loving wife Briana, two children, Hannah and Emmanuel (Manny), his mother Maria, brother Ray, sisters Ana, Rosalia, Lisa and many extended family and friends.
Family was the most important priority in his life, and he leaves a void in our hearts that can never be replaced. Tony was a larger-than-life character who people naturally gravitated to and followed. He was easy to like and befriend, loyal and supportive to all in his life. He had a sharp wit and self-deprecating humour that lit up a room with smiles and laughter.
He graduated from Beamsville District Secondary School, where he pursued his love for sports and education. This love for sports led him to Ryerson University in Toronto where he graduated from the prestigious Radio and Television Arts program and joined the TSN sports cable channel where he had been interning. Tony had a passion for this work because he was doing what he loved. He was very successful over his tenure at TSN where he earned the position of control room producer for the station’s coveted CFL on TSN property.
He also traveled to various sporting events during his career including the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia to name a few. He was a natural leader who wanted excellence from those he worked with, but always focused on the needs of his team and team goals over individual accomplishment.
Due to industry cutbacks, Tony had to chart a new path in his career. Despite this set back, Tony demonstrated his commitment and love to his family with his drive to succeed in a new profession, public relations. Difficult as it was to change course in his 40s, he began to have success in this new profession thanks to his diligence and perseverance.
Tony is not defined only by what he did but by the man he had become. Guided by the legacy of his Father, Ciriaco, who he lost at 10 years old, the love of his Mother and family, he became a man to be remembered. We will always be proud and privileged to have loved him.
He will be sorrowfully missed but we take solace in the day we see him again. We love you.
He is in God’s hands now.
