Passed away peacefully with family by her side at Innisfree House on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the age of 49. Beloved wife of Dr. J. Carlos Martinez. Loving mother of Rebecca and Benjamin Martinez. Beloved daughter of Edmund (late Esther) and the late Joyce Martin. Dear sister of Blake Martin (Karen) and Fay Samuels (Tom) and sister-in-law of Gaby Martinez de Larios (Hector). Aunt Heidi will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.
Heidi loved nature and had a passion for horses, photography and travelling. Her artistic nature was displayed in every thing she did. Intrigued with lighting and textures she found beauty in all creation from the tiniest wing of a bug to the reflection of light on water. In later years she explored pour painting and pottery as well as writing. She was a tireless worker, she particularly loved to spend her time volunteering at her children’s school, Sunrise therapeutic horse camp, Sunday school or at the Gleaners ministry. She believed in supporting overseas missionaries and relief mission work. Heidi developed a passion for gardening and cooking and was well known for her love of music. But of all the things Heidi did she loved the most to serve her God and Saviour. She will be remembered for her commitment in listening to others, encouraging and praying for them.
Heidi’s family will receive relatives and friends from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 and Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St. Kitchener. A memorial service will be held at Cedar Creek Community Church on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10 a.m. EST. Please note that if you plan to attend either the visitation or the service, masks are mandatory and you must RSVP your attendance through the funeral home website or by calling (519) 749-8467. Those unable to attend may view Heidi’s service on Saturday at 10 a.m. EST via live stream (details will be available on the Henry Walser website later this week).
In lieu of flowers, donations to Sunnybrook Hospital – Odette Cancer Centre, Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation – Oncology Dept., Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation – Cancer Centre, Lisaard & Innisfree Hospice, or University Health Network (UHN) Foundation would be appreciated by the family (cards available at the funeral home).
