HUGHES, Theresa – Entered into rest at Victoria Manor in Lindsay on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Theresa at the age of 90, was the beloved wife of the late George Hughes (2019) and the late Tom Giltenan (1982). Predeceased by her parents Cornelius and Mary Ellen Callaghan (née Curtin) and her siblings; Rita (George Finley), Herb (Eileen), Frank (survived by Margaret). Cherished Mom of Kathleen (Joe Aquilina), Neil (Sherry), Mary (Terry Hawery) and Anne (Stuart Keenan). Loving Step-Mom of the late George Jr., John, Doris (the late Brian Lister), and Donnie (Carol). Dear Grandma of Beth (Ryan), John, Zac (Raychel), Mat; Tom, Sarah (Jeremy); Jenny (Charlie), the late Benjamin; Katie (Mike) and Emily. Step-Grandma of Rodger, Jim, Rick (Chamberlain) and Sheri (Matt). Great-Grandma of George, Isla, Etta, Della and Maisey. Step Great-Grandma of Delaney, Madison, Chole, Jade, Maddox and Asia. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Theresa moved from Alberta at a young age, after moving to Ontario she married Tom Giltenan. She then started her own business ‘Terry’s Tailor Shop’ and played a huge role in her husband’s business ‘Tom Giltenan Men’s Wear’. Following Tom’s passing in 1982, Theresa met and married George Hughes. A large part of their life was traveling, crafts, their faith, laughter; but most importantly family. She was a great inspiration, mentor and role model to many. Theresa wanted to say thank you for all the good times. Friends and Family are invited to call at the Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Thursday, October 7th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 45 Russell Street East, Lindsay on Friday, October 8th at 11:00a.m. If desired, a memorial donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Kawartha Lakes would be appreciated by the family.
