LeMoine’s Obituary
HEBB, LeMoine Bertram ~ Age 89 of Brickton, passed away Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021, in the VAC Unit, Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Belleisle, he was the oldest child of the late Bertram and Helen (Theriault) Hebb. LeMoine grew up in Port Royal on the family farm. At a young age, he left home and moved to the Middleton area where he began a long career in the trucking industry. He married the love of his life, Teresa (affectionately known as “Mother Goose”) in 1957. They would have celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on September 28th, 2021. They settled into the family home in Brickton, in 1963. Together they raised their two daughters and welcomed four grandchildren. LeMoine remained in the family home until recently. LeMoine worked for Thompson’s Moving and Storage based out of Middleton, for 35 years; driving long-haul in Canada and the United States. He then went to work at Compass Fisheries, in Parker’s Cove, hauling fish and salt for nearly a decade. He was employed with the Department of Transportation as a winter operator driving the snowplow for 7 seasons and for his final year of plowing, he was partnered with his son-in-law, Mark Bezanson. His formal driving career ended in his 67th year. Then he started a firewood business with his son in law, Mark, and they delivered wood from Kingston to Victoria Beach until his early 70`s. LeMoine then finally “retired” to his garden. He loved tending to his garden and watching it grow. He also generously shared the fruits of his labor with family, neighbors and friends. Over the years LeMoine enjoyed hunting both deer and moose. His yearly vacations were spent in the woods and often resulted in a deer coming home on the back of the truck. He sought every opportunity possible to go moose hunting yearly and would prompt others to apply for their moose license so he could tag along. At one time his gun collection was near and dear to his heart and was only outshone by his most recent Chev Truck. He had many a new shiny truck grace his driveway over the years and never lost the desire to “buy a new truck”, even asking to go look for one the week before his passing. LeMoine loved his family dearly; especially his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Grampie.” Grampie could always be counted on to pick them up from school whether it be Friday or any other day of the week. He was the best “Nanny Day” assistant ever and was the one who would “skin the rabbit” for Nanny so she could change their diapers. He “by lo-ed” all of his grandchildren for hours as they readied for their afternoon naps in the middle bedroom and was their live model for many a “fancy hairdo”. He would sit in the chair with his eyes closed reveling in the attention of those doing his hair. He loved to laugh, giggle and to tease them all. He encouraged them all to learn how to “Call a Moose” and could be encouraged to still call a moose on any day you should visit. He was happiest with family around, loved holidays and family gatherings, and looked forward to his daily family visits and the treats they brought. He was an early riser even in retirement. He headed out to either Tim Hortons or Subway to “meet the boys” and get the local news which in turn he brought home to share with Teresa. He joined the gym, “Fitness Experience”, when he retired, and went to the gym faithfully. He used to arrive so early that they even gave him his own key to open up each day. LeMoine was also known over the years for visiting anyone who was sick or in the hospital, and he volunteered for many years at the Port George Hall helping at the annual Port George Jamboree. He was the “toast man” at Port George Hall`s famous Sunday Breakfasts and helped in the kitchen for many a supper. LeMoine mowed the hall’s lawns; finally retiring when his hip would not allow him to continue. LeMoine is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Teresa; daughters, Crystal (Wayne) Veinott(Bridgetown) granddaughters Grace (Round Hill), Emma (PEI); Tracy (Mark) Bezanson(Port George), grandson Noah(Port George), granddaughter Tess (Port George), Sisters; Marie (Russell) Young, Lawrencetown, Halifax County, Luella (Mike) Woods, Bedford, Mary Helen (Stephen) Gallagher, Granville Center; Brother, Leon (Terry) Hebb, Granville Ferry; Sister-In-Law, Hilda Hebb, Port Royal; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, LeMoine was predeceased by a daughter in infancy; sister, Jean (Vernon) Cranton; brother Bertram and his longtime friend Clyde Rafuse of Upper Granville. Donations in LeMoine’s memory may be made to Mid Valley Palliative Care, Hillsburn Cemetery or a Charity of Choice.
