SJOSTROM
Mr. Carl “Leonard” Sjostrom, age 88 years, passed away unexpectedly on Monday September 20, 2021.
Leonard was born March 13, 1933 in Kakabeka Falls to Hugo and Ethel (Holland) Sjostrom. Leonard grew up on the family farm in Conmee Township before moving to Happyland Trailer Park. He lived his entire life in the Kakabeka area except for the past three years when he moved to McKellar Place and eventually Hogarth Riverview Manor.
Leonard began his career driving truck with his father before starting his employment with the former Great Lakes Forest Products. This employment would last for over 45 years and through many company name changes. Leonard was a dedicated employee and received safe driving awards every year of his career. Through his entire employment he never had a lost time incident.
Leonard was a quiet man with a gentle soul and made friends easily. He enjoyed country music and attended every concert that came to the area. Leonard regularly travelled to Branson and Nashville to see his favourite artists. He has a collection of T-shirts from each concert he attended and was a member of many fan clubs, his favourite artist being George Jones. Leonard was a regular of the Wayland, the Stanley and the Kakabeka Hotel where he made many friends.
A confirmed bachelor, Leonard is survived by his brother, Raymond in B.C, nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and the U.S. Locally Leonard is survived by his cousins, Francis Holland, Ralph Holland and Dale Holland and their families.
Leonard is predeceased by his parents, his sister Irene and Cousin Reba Foreman.
A celebration of life will be held at the Conmee Community Centre on Saturday September 25, 2021 starting at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Conmee Cemetery.
For those unable to attend, a video recording of the service will be available on the Everest of Thunder Bay website, beginning on Sunday.
COVID-19 Protective measures are still being applied in group settings. Capacity is limited, masks or face coverings are required and maintaining social distancing of 6 feet is mandatory for those attending the service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street, Thunder Bay.
