DYCK, Frank Peter
Went home to be with the Lord on September17, 2021, at the age of 98 years. He was the youngest in his family and the last surviving of his siblings. Frank was born in Ukraine to Peter and Katharina Dyck and the family emigrated to Canada in 1926 when he was just 3 years old. They initially settled in Manitoba, but after his father’s early passing, his mother and family moved to Ontario. He attended Ridge School and Leamington District Secondary School. His occupations were varied and included farming, carpentry, teaching shop class, and developing his own business as a sewing machine repairman. He was a hard-working man and gave much time to serving others. He served in his local church faithfully and he loved to sing the great hymns of the faith both in male quartets and in duets with his wife. He also found great pleasure in playing Hawaiian Guitar. His conversations often turned to topics of faith and in the latter years of his life he turned many of those thoughts into poems to bless and minister to others.
He was married to Katherine Neufeld in 1952 and they celebrated 52 years together just before her passing in 2004. They began their marriage at a home he built in Leamington and later moved to Amherstburg into a home he built on Bingham Road, where they lived for 40 years. They had 4 children together: Elli and Greg Balkwill, Ken and Judy Dyck, Doreen and Rick Pointon, and Linda and Al Ringrose. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was a faithful and gentle father, always providing for the needs of his family.
We mourn the loss of our father but are comforted to know that he did not die; he just moved from 33 Pickwick in Leamington to his heavenly home prepared for him by the Lord.
