Charlie is predeceased by his parents Rita (Ebejer) & Frank. Born in 1941, Valletta, Malta, Charlie came to Canada in 1950. He was a dedicated volunteer in his community. For 32 years, he was a proud Volunteer Firefighter. When Charlie first moved to Canada, he fell in love with the game of hockey. Outside his family home on West St. he played hockey with his new found friends. He eventually traded in the street for a sheet of ice & founded the Clay Pit Clippers. After nearly 40 years, the Clay Pit Clippers still endure. Off the ice, Charlie coached several minor league hockey teams. He was also a dedicated member of the Port Colborne Schooners Jr. B teams. Charlie was a fervent Montreal Canadians fan, a thorn in the side of his family & friends who were Toronto Maple Leaf fans, Charlie never let them forget who was the better team. He will always be remembered for being very proud of his family, & his heritage.
Gail (nee Mills), was predeceased by her parents, Gordon & Jessie. She was born in 1943, Port Colborne. She grew up on Erie St. surrounded by family & friends. When her father returned from the war, in 1946, he introduced his family to a whole new world. He built a small rustic cottage, on the shores of Lake Kawagama. Here Gail learned a new appreciation for nature & adventure. Gail graduated from Port Colborne High School in 1961, & found her true calling as a teacher. She spent 35 years teaching in the Elementary division for the Niagara Catholic District School Board. Gail worked tirelessly & enthusiastically to provide her students with a rich & fulfilling education. On many occasions Gail helped those students who were less fortunate by providing them with lunches and clothing. She fought for them when they needed it and her impact on those she taught will always be remembered. Gail was a proud member of the Port Colborne firefighters women’s auxiliary for 8 years. While raising her children, & teaching, Gail attended Brock University, graduating with a Bachelor’s of art degree in 1991.
Gail & Charlie were proud members of the Port Colborne Legion, where they were often seen dancing on New Years Eve. They loved to travel & were able to visit Malta, the Netherlands, Italy, Arizona, Calgary, Florida and Pennsylvania.
