Leo Albert Moro
June 22, 1932 – September 11, 2021
It is with deep sadness that the family of Leo Albert Moro announces his peaceful passing on September 11, 2021 at Hogarth Riverview Manor at the age of 89 years.
Leo was born on June 22, 1932 in Fort William to Teresa (Rossit) and Luigi Moro. He grew up in Westfort where he attended local schools and St. Agnes Church. At an early age, he was employed by Great Lakes Paper Mill, retiring as a millwright in 1990 after 41 years of dedicated service. Leo was a member of Local 39 Papermakers Union. Upon retirement, he enjoyed many happy years of curling and golfing.
He married Lora Chiesurin on October 14, 1953 in St. Elizabeth’s Church where they have been faithful members ever since.
Leo is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Lora; sons, Ron of Thunder Bay, Dan (Gail) of Calgary and Larry (Lil) of Edmonton; daughters Marianne (Steve) Jollineau of Thunder Bay, and Janet (Ric) White of Toronto. His memory is also treasured by his beloved grandchildren: Melanie & Geoffrey Moro, Marina Moro, Gregory & Ryan Moro, Andrew & Matthew Jollineau and Jacob & Lexi White. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Loris Chiesurin as well as nieces and nephews in Thunder Bay, Fort Frances and Whitehorse.
Leo is predeceased by his son, Gary (1981); infant grandson, Anthony Michael; parents, Teresa and Luigi Moro; sister, Rita Del Bo, and brother-in-law, Joe Del Bo; brother, Reno Moro and sister-in-law, Jean; and in-laws Marina and Angelo Chiesurin.
We sincerely regret that due to the present restrictions and limited spacing, a Private Funeral Mass at St. Elizabeth’s R.C. Church will be held with interment to follow in Mountainview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Andrew’s Dew Drop Inn and the Manor House Adult Day Program c/o St. Joseph’s Care Group would be sincerely appreciated.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring and supportive staff of 2 North Lavender Staff at Hogarth Riverview Manor who gave loving care to Leo over the past 4 and half years. You were wonderful to him and patient with us and he knew it. God bless you all!
Only God can make a dad with such a loving heart, who cares about family enough to guide them from the start –
Believing in them always, so proud of what they do – Thank heaven for a husband and dad as wonderful as you!
Love,
Lora, the children and grandchildren
