Irwin, Irene (nee Shlapak)
Peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at her home, after a lengthy illness. Loving mother of David and Teresa and Darryl and Daiana. Cherished Nana of Kaitlin, Zachary, and Justine. Beloved partner of John Wallace.
Survived by her dear mother Maria Shatynsky and brother Peter Shlapak. Predeceased by her father, Michael Szlapak. Irene will be dearly missed for her kindness and compassion and unconditional dedication to her family and friends and community having made a lasting impact for all of those who knew her.
Irene was a long-time teacher with the Durham Catholic District School Board and a dedicated and loving person. Irene will also be remembered for her love of traveling, reading, and writing, especially her poetry.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa) from 1-2 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel. Due to COVID19 restrictions, registration is required to attend the visitation and service.
