MCSWEENEY, Geraldine Margaret
July 26, 1927 – Sept 4, 2021
Our beautiful Mom is finally united once again with her beloved “Big Al”.
Geraldine Margaret Mary McSweeney (nee Dunn) passed peacefully in her 95th year with her children by her side. Wife of the late Albert McSweeney, daughter of the late Edward and Christella Dunn, cherished Mom of Joe (Maureen), Theresa (Jim), Pat (Judy), Brian (Cathy), and Darlene (Joe). Mom was the eldest and treasured sister and sister-in-law of the late Gerald (Lucille), the late Joe (the late Helen), the late Don (Evelyn), Leo (Dianne), Ken (Anne) and Ed (Mary Jo).
Adored Grandmother of Trevor (Sarah), Kristy (Andrew), and Melissa (Steve), Jennifer, the late Sean, Jillian (Jorge), and Stephen (Tania), Carrie (Robb), Stephanie (Bil), and Cameron (Holly), Matthew (Connor), Melanie (Dan), and Mitchell (Laura), Mark, Christian (Amanda), Lucas (Andrea) and Amelia. Special Great-grandmother of Maya, Kiera, Eli, Madeleine, Gage, Madison, Mackenzie, Max, Thomas, Emma, Owen, Jase, Katelyn, Austin and Andy. She leaves behind too many wonderful nieces and nephews, and friends to mention.
Mom’s greatest joy in this life was her family, whether it was sewing bridesmaids, christening or first communion dresses, or planning the annual Dunn Family Christmas party – family meant everything to her. Mom loved her Euchre and of course, winning at Euchre, playing Scrabble and occasional casino runs. Mom was a lifelong member of Sts Peter and Paul Parish, a CWL member and an extraordinary minister. She became affectionately known as Nana at St. Teresa of Avila School as a volunteer and she also enjoyed volunteering for the Good Shepherd Christmas Dinner for many years. We all learned the meaning of unconditional love watching her take care of our father, who suffered with ALS for twenty-one years. We got our strength and our love of family from her. Mom cherished and cared for us all. Her love was never ending and will continue to shine in everyone who knew her. Love you forever, love you for always.
Thank you to Doctors Nantes and Klosterman for their outstanding care, to all the personal support workers who made it possible for us to keep Mom at home, and the Bob Kemp Hospice.
